Japanese Benefit Most From Cash-For-Clunkers

Under the cash-for-clunkers scheme, modeled on similar incentives in Europe, buyers who trade in old vehicles for those with lower fuel consumption receive a rebate of $3,500 or $4,500, depending on the fuel consumption of the replacement vehicle.” This was the brain child of the Obama administration to copy Europe to aid the American Auto Industry, but we are helping Japan instead. Americans are purchasing more Japanese vehicles than American made. “Toyota has an 18.9 per cent share of vehicles bought so far, putting it ahead of General Motors with 17.6 per cent and Ford with 15.4 per cent. Chrysler is in fifth place, after Honda… in contrast to the beginning of the year GM had a 19.6 per cent share of the overall US light-vehicle market in the first seven months of this year, compared with Toyota’s 16.3 per cent.” It would seem that the $2 Billion dollars that was supposed to help Americans is really an incentive for Japanese car manufacturers. FT
Catholic Femina Speaks: So the government is trying to help the American car industry by giving lots of money to the Japanese car companies. I think of it like a coach in a football game allowing players to play for the opponent. That coach is not likely to win, and he is very likely to advance his opponent farther beyond what he could have obtained without the help. This is not an effective way to bail-out anyone. The second question is who will be paying back this money to help boost Japanese car sales? If you answered: “me,” you were right. The American people will be paying back all the money that our government is spending through taxes. So before you take a cash for clunkers deal remember you will be paying for that incentive for a long time; it is not a car manufacturer rebate. C. F. C. is a plan to help large car companies immediately, but will hurt Americans later.

Pence To Stop Planned Parenthood

U.S. House Representative Mike Pence, proposed and submitted a amendment that would stop Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funds. Planned Parenthood has been under investigation since they were caught on camera failing to report child victims of sexual abuse. “Legally a non-profit organization, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) depends upon $349.6 million in US tax dollars to free up other resources that sustain the financial operation of its abortion facilities. According to PPFA's financial report for 2007-2008, the abortion provider brought in total revenue of $1.038 billion and posted an $85 million profit. They performed 305,000 abortions just this past year.” Life Sites Title X funds from the Public Health Services Act has been used to organize and operate an abortion facility, but not provide abortions; according to the regulations. The Pence Amendment seeks to remove Planned Parenthood from the charities benefitting from this program and reveal the truth about the organization. PPFA is a highly lucrative company using government money to pressure poverty level and minority women into having abortions, while harboring child sex offenders. Pence has ask the house to stop providing “bloody money.”

Bishops support tax contrary to the Pope

U.S. Bishops are passionately supporting the new Waxman-Markey bill; this bill claims to add only $140.00 per year to an average family. While in reality the bill will add new taxes of $1,900 a year for the average American family of four. Bishop Howard Hubbard was excited about the new tax despite the fact that the global warming bill does not seek to give protection to the poor and families who will carry the bulk of the tax. The Waxman-Markey Bill is
"the largest tax increase in American history."

The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 proposes a complicated series of schemes known as "cap and trade," ultimately imposing taxes on the carbon-dioxide emissions that are cited as a major factor in global warming. Even before the 1,200-page legislation was made available to Congress, the members of the House of Representatives received a letter from two leading representatives of the American Church, giving their strong endorsement for the bill. Pope Benedict XVI voiced his views on global warming in January of this year. He foresaw the waves of people panicking and tried to stop the mass hysteria. the Pope wanted to prevent legislation such as the Waxman-Markey Bill that employs scare tactics to hurt families.
Speaking to more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over
man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented
disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering. Daily Mail

It is upsetting that U.S. Bishops would support something that the Pope condemns and an added expense to families who are already struggling with the decline in the economy.
